Scholar Boxing- Defining Martial Arts

The scholar embarks on a life mission in search of the 'truth'. Through the experiences along the journey, the scholar finds many small pieces to this truth. After each and every piece is collected, they are put together to form an image. The scholar then spends much time in reflection of this image, hoping to discern the meaning of the image in front of his eyes. When full understanding of this image is realized, the scholar finds meaning in all he has done- the truth.

The boxer defines his life through the repititious use of skilled physical feats, particular to the art of fighting that he has choosen. Practice and study are two different concepts to the boxer: one entails physical conditioning while the other envolves the research of martial methods. Fighting is viewed as a test of personal perseverence, and is not the defining factor of his skill. However, like any other test, it must be taken; but, tests do not capture the essense of what makes a boxer.
