Stress Management For A Healthy Heart
April 10, 2009
Raphael Smith was a special guest of the UC Davis Preventive Cardiology Program this week, invited to introduce patients in the program to tai chi, the traditional Chinese martial art form.
The program included the demonstration as one of the many options available to patients for stress management and adjunctive exercise therapy. Tai chi helps to improve balance and strength, and
to achieve mental calmness.
The Preventive Cardiology Program is a multidisciplinary program offering exercise therapy, diabetes lifestyle education, dietary and psychological counseling, and heart-healthy education not
only for patients who have experienced cardiac events, but for individuals at high risk for these events.
